Community Outreach Events

Everyone is welcome to attend these events with or without your therapy companions.  Please come and join in the fun and share PAWS for People with the community!

 May 18 – Bellefonte Arts Festival – 10 – 3pm 

803 Brandywine Blvd. Bellefonte, DE 19809

Come to Bellefonte and experience a great crowd of dog lovers!

This is a fun, street side art festival with great food, music and yes PAWS!

We need teams throughout the day to lure in the crowds and recruit new therapy teams.

This is always a hot day, 1-2 hr shifts only..

May 18 – Locke Ave. Fun Day – 1pm – 6pm

Locke Avenue Park, 58 Locke Avenue, Woolwich Twp., NJ 08085

Join the families and dog lovers at this fantastic venue. Join our team leaders,

Sharon & John Bednar and help them recruit new teams in New Jersey.

Five or more teams welcome to attend. 1-2 hr shifts.

May 19 – Buddy Walk – 11am -3pm

University of Delaware’s Athletic Complex, Newark, DE

Come and share your calming therapy pets with the families attending this event.

The Buddy Walk is a one mile walk to promote the understanding of children with Down syndrome. Food, music and games!

We need therapy teams for 1-2 hr shifts throughout this time span.

May 25 – The Fair Hill Races – 9am – 3pm

147 West High St., Elkton, MD 21921

This is a horse race event, just outside of Newark, DE.

We share reading sessions with the children attending as well as educate folks about PAWS, while they enjoy petting your therapy companions.

Horses, dogs, children and fun! Bring a snack to share.

Four teams, 1-2 hr shifts!  

June 1 – The NASCAR Foundation/Autism Speaks Track Walk at Dover International Speedway.  5pm -8pm

Lead the pack of walkers around the “one mile” speedway track or come and share you therapy companions with the families attending.

We need as many teams as possible to attend this Visibility event!

Autism Initiative teams encouraged to attend.  All PAWS teams welcome!  Volunteers without dogs welcome for various jobs.

**Please RSVP as soon as possible, so that we can procure parking passes and admission tickets for the NASCAR events listed here.**

June 1 – June 2 – NASCAR Nationwide and Sprint Cup “Fan-zone” Times TBD (prior to the race)

We have been invited to attend as a non-profit exhibitor on both dates for this well attended National event.  We would love to have teams representing

our booth for 1-2 hr shifts.  Autism Initiative certified teams encouraged to attend.  All PAWS teams welcome!
