Fundraising Ideas & Tips
ASK: The easiest way to raise money is to ask your family, friends, neighbors, and anyone you know to support your WAG & Walkathon efforts. The platform makes it easy to set-up your fundraising page and share it via email or on social media.
MAKE IT FUN: The more the merrier when it comes to Wagging and Walking! Form or join a team and encourage your friends and family to join as well. A fun way to engage is to set mileage goals and ask donors to contribute a certain amount per mile. You can keep your sponsors updated on your progress through your social media or with email updates.
Here are some other fundraising ideas:
Bake Sales: Hold a bake sale on at your office or school or have a No-Bake sale where co-workers contribute so they don’t have to bake goodies.
Car Washes: A great idea for the summer, when everyone wants the mud off of their cars and it’s bound to be warm enough to get helpers! Don’t forget to have a tip jar at the end to collect extra donations.
Dress Down Days: Does your school or workplace require you to wear uniforms? Work with your administration or supervisors to fundraise for a dress down day if they make a certain donation.
Game Night: Have a game night and everyone comes to your house to play board games, charades etc. You can charge an “entrance” fee .
Ice Cream Socials: Plan one at your school or workplace, asking for a donation to attend.
Weekly Bank for PAWS: Get everyone on your team to put in just $5 each week, at the beginning of the week, for this year’s WAG & Walkathon. In 4 weeks, you would each have raised $20.
Matching Gifts: Ask your company to match what you raise. Some companies have a matching gift policy, check to see if your does.
Pancake Breakfasts: Hold a pancake breakfast at your house, school, or office and invite and everyone you know to attend. Ask local grocery stores to donate the items you will need: pancake mix, syrup, orange juice, plates, forks, etc.
Percentage of Sales: Head to a store that is a favorite of yours and ask them to designate a percentage of one day’s sales or proceeds and let the public know so they will buy more. *If you do this, let PAWS for People know and we can promote it too!*
Yard Sales: Work together as a team, or have one individually and donate the proceeds to your WAG & Walkathon team. Ask a bakery or grocery store to donate donuts and juice to give to people that visit your yard sale.
SAY THANK YOU: Most importantly, remember to thank all the wonderful people supporting your efforts and PAWS for People. The funds raised through the WAG & Walkathon will help PAWS reach even more people in need throughout the year and every donation makes a difference!
